I don’t know what I’m doing wrong when I remove the supports but I can’t get them off without leaving little nubs on the print.

I’m soaking it in hot water before I take them off.

They come off really easily but leave the bumps. We’re using the translucent resin so you can see when I file them.

Please help!

Some help please...have a Zero, and want to use the hollow and drain feature on the new Photon Workshop slicer. The hollowing is pretty straightforward, but I cant seem to get the punch/drainhole bit to work. Not really sure what the black rectangular image and 'auto' is supposed to do...it doesn't seem to do anything? I then stumbled on dragging from this area onto the model which does seem to generate a hole but then the software crashes ?‍♂️ anyone with any experience with this feature? I want it to work in this slicer, not Chitubox before the suggestions. Thank you ?

Hey ... I think you must do a releveling ... This works for me very well ...

1. Start a Calibration
2. Take a normal piece of paper
3. Get down till the paper stuck lightly
4. Align the top with bottom an tighten up the top piece
5. Look for the paper, if it still lightly stuck get more down till the paper stuck strong ...
6. If the paper stuck strong end calibration (save)

This works 4 me any time ... if your prints stucks really hard after printjob is done ... You got to close ...

Play around ... and still use IPA to clean all the stuff before printing !

Pedro Torres i clean the fep with alcohol then wipe on some ptfe, make sure it’s dry and make a quick wipe with soft cloth to get off any excess. Fill the vat and off ya go

Hi guys. I have a couple of questions cause i have issues printing, and with my printer.

1. How much can I leave the resin in the vat in the printer (the printer have yellow glass so it's safe from the UV light)?

2. I printed AmeraLab test piece and after that, I found the rezidues that you can see in the photos, in the vat. Why are they there?

3. How much time can I use a bottle of resin after I first opened it?

4. If I use toilet papper to clean the vat, it's too abrasive?

5. What settings you recomand for Anycubic Green? I made some tests, I have some good results but also bad ones and I want a second opinion.

I can see window light reflecting in your video so you might consider closing the blinds. That uv will start curing your resin and mess up your prints

I have heard before that the window doesn't fully block uv but in could be wrong. Probably just opening the door with ambient light will mess up your prints tho.

I saw the same film-like cured resin on the FEP after drain the residual resin from the tank. This happened to me when I change the FEP. I supoose that too loose FEP sticks to the screen and resin cured on the FEP due to the heat generated from screen. Just control the tension of FEP or If you use transparent resin fill little bit resin to the tank and observe the surface of FEP. If FEP sticks to the screen you can easily realize that.

The FEP is always sticked to the screen when I pull the vat out. I will try and tension it more. I didn't do anything to it since i got the printer. I just started printing and thought that it should be ready to go. Can the FEP get loose over time?

Palcu Alex I'm not sure it happens by time but I just forgot to peel off the protective layer before change the FEP and adjust it with protective layer. Then I pull off the protective layer but this time never adjust the tension and film-like layer occ ured after printing. Also I can feel the heat on FEP after printing. So you can contol it too. Or maybe fill less resin and add by time. It could stick due to the high resin load.

Ich habe folgendes Problem: Wenn ich drucke, „flackert“ das Bild. Mein zweiter Photon macht das nicht. Beide haben die identische Datei zum drucken. Dadurch muss ich deutlich höhere Belichtungszeiten benutzen. Weis einer woran es liegt? Display ist neu, war aber mit dem alten Display genau das gleiche.

I just posted a load of pictures showing the 1/12 Caterham model I am doing using the photon to build a lot of scratch built parts, I wanted to show the roll bar separately, to illustrate something about supports. (scroll down for the pictures!)

For those of us using the photon for more 'engineered' or 'fitted' parts, a big issue can be the distortion you CAN get around the supports - wheels can be a bugger, as any rod, cylinder or rail can sometimes exhibit 'sagging' around the support bases. People always say 'print at an angle' - but this sometimes is not the answer - (I actually try and print as much as I can direct to the plate, as I have never had any issues.)

[I don't think the support marking issue is SUCH a big deal with the incrediable organic figures people show here, as it is easier to hide any sagging, if that makes sense]

Making the roll bar for the model would involve printing 'rod' - round section or about 4mm diameter. Single supports would work, but involves a lot of sanding to try and remove the distortion or pin-marks from those supports.

This post is really about thinking laterally with supports, and considering how they might work as you design the part in the CAD software.

So for these parts, I modeled a thin 'fin' and a base within the actual CAD file (as opposed to adding supports later) - this fin (less than 1mm) supported the roll bar along its whole length, and it was very easy to sand the linear fin off the part once cured.

Quick update on the 1/12 Caterham model I am making. The Photon has become invaluable! I have pretty much finished the entirely-3d-printed engine, which will be 'wired and plumbed' once in the chassis. Exhaust system was a bugger to draw up, but printed and fit well.

Other parts in this update include floor mats, dash board and steering wheel. I'll speak about the roll bar in a separate post, as I want to mention supports...
