Hi all, does anyone have any idea why the mirrored model in this group is not being picked up by chitubox. They were all positioned and supported in prusaslicer and exported with supports as an STL.

Because the normals have been flipped. In 3D modelling, each face has a normal, which stores the information of which side should be the outside. Currently, that model is turned inside out

I had a similar issue. I was told to put it in 3D builder on Windows and it would fix.
It told me there were errors, I clicked fix and the model came out good after that.

If 3D builder doesn't fix it you can load the model into blender, select it and go to edit mode, then recalculate normals then export it again as an stl.

eaziest way is to flip it alone save as stl then repair, and then suport it, and again save as stl... :-\ yeah doesnt sound eazy but all other things i tried are worst...

Good day!

I want to share my first work using 3D printing. And this is also my first experience with 3D sculpting. I started work with mastering # Mudbox and really loved this program. I hope it will replenish and develop, because, Despite the lack of many useful features from Zbrush, Mudbox is very convenient and has an absolutely intuitive and comfortable interface.

For printing, I used Model Clear resin and Model Cherry from # HARZLabs ,

Model Clear used for the eyes, water droplets on the wings and an imitation of a cloud, followed by tinting in alcohol with a caller from washing with Model Cherry. The result is quite an interesting result.

The wings were printed on another printer, FDM format. As a result, I am convinced that for most of my tasks, I need very high detail, which is available only to DLP, LCD printers so far.

Hey is there a pinned link for noobs to this whole set up thing. I'm finally getting my stuff set up and trying to work out the best way to start printing, eg. What slicer, g code validator, support generator etc.
So far I've come to the conclusion that the most efficient for the non tech savvy is load file into prusaslicer add supports, move to chitubox Hollow if need be, generate gcode run through validator then load to printer and print if all is well.
Please be gentle on me, I need a thorough walk through. Including the set up of the software.

so, how does one make drainage holes in chitubox? hollowed my model and trying to put them on the underside but it tells me it's too deep or not hollow? even though i know im going into the cavity! running the most current version of chitubox

Likely the file is broken in some way and it won't let you cut across a bunch of "layers" inside the wall. It's easier to use 3D Builder to repair files and cut holes in things.

Not worth the trouble. I tried all sorts of polishing media and couldn't get a good result in a reasonable amount of time (ran prints in it for up to 1 week). The best thing I've used is various grades of steel wool and my Dremel.

Thats my experience as well so far - even with sand and rocks. Looks like resin it self is a good helping agent in polishing other materials - but resin it self are almost immune to it...

well glass is usually put in rock tumbler for polishing... its not exactly indication of "brittleness".

Never under estimate and excused if you have limited budget to make your model clean and good smoothing.I always used the cheaper one to make it. You no need expensive things to make models clean and smoot until final casting. ? ?
