Anycubic Photon Printer Owners 造訪社團

I noticed recently that my buildplate is wiggly! I leveled the plate using the paper method and made sure that I tighten the bolt on the top properly. But this did not resolve the issue. If anything the plate is even more wiggly now! I don't understand, what do I need to tighten to solve this??

My prints are getting ruined RIP ?

SOLVED: Take it all apart, clean with IPA, and put it back together. Worked like a charm. Thanks everyone for the help!

Did you get resin inside the ball joint?

Mourni Tenchou
2020-03-24 22:19:28

you probably got resin into the ball joint.

Disassemble the printhead, clean out the inside with IPA, reassemble. I had to do that a bunch cause i tend to overfill my vat. If that happens, its not a big issue.

Lorenz Steinke
2020-03-24 22:20:17

So I did, too. Worked fine.

Ric Watts
2020-03-24 22:22:15

Also take the 4 screws out and detach the top portion. Underneath that is 3 screws in a triangle pattern. If those go loose it will wobble.

Ric Watts
2020-03-24 22:22:35

Ian Gill
2020-03-24 22:25:14

Nooooooo! Don't do anything with the four screws yet. Take the grub screw out that is supposed to tighten the build plate. Now put the Allen key back in the hole and there's a very good chance you have another one in there. That's the one you tighten. The one you've taken out is a spare.

James Turner
2020-03-24 22:27:05

There are actually 2 set screws on top. The set screw you loosen and retighten to level the plate has another underneath it. Remove top one, level plate, tighten bottom screw, replace and tighten top screw

Gabi Ras
2020-03-24 22:27:06

Oh I see, I always tried my best to not overfill my vat. To my knowledge I never did. But thanks for the insight, I know what to do now! :)

James Turner
2020-03-24 22:28:49

No,its not a spare Ian Gill ...its a double lock setup. Both are needed to insure it doesnt come loose

Gabi Ras
2020-03-24 22:29:11

So i did take the grub screw out and the screw inside the hole is not something I can tighten or loosen. This is the photon s btw

Mike Johnson
2020-03-24 22:35:01

Mourni Tenchou and use blue lock-tight on the screws that should not be coming loose

Gabi Ras
2020-03-24 22:39:55

You mean this screw inside? I already tried turning it with an Allen wrench but it doesn't work, there's no opening for the wrench to be inserted into

Jeffery Nelson
2020-03-24 22:44:18

I had this problem and found that the set-screw had broken in half and any attempt to tighten it was only tightening the top half down onto the bottom half.

Gabi Ras
2020-03-24 22:49:14

I took it apart and am cleaning everything

Bastian Dietert

Hey everyone thanks for the help! The problem is SOLVED. I took it apart, cleaned with IPA and put it all back together.

Ric Watts if you are cleaning resin from it - use gloves!

(if this is reassembly after thorough cleaning, never mind)

Dear colleagues,
I have printed gonk. I cut his legs off using the sliced and printed flat on the bed. Standard settings all good.
However there is a sequence of regular lines on the surface. There is no evidence of these lines on the cylindrical blade of yesterday's prints.
Is this the dreaded z wobble, or is it just an artefact of printing using a pixelated light source and a geometeically flat but angled model surface?

André Nettermann
2020-03-24 22:18:51

your second guess is the right one. the correct term is "aliasing".

Alex Clarke
2020-03-24 22:28:31

André Nettermann thanks for identifying my lines. :)

André Nettermann
2020-03-24 22:29:36

Alex Clarke if in doubt, you can always print the z wobble test "not a cube" from Thingverse.

Alex Clarke
2020-03-24 22:31:51

André Nettermann it doesn't seem to make these artefacts on amorphous edges (like a flowing cloak) just on such regular angles planes. I shall investigate aliasing.

Has anyone had parts shipped direct from anycubic lately? The shipping window of a replacement LCD on amazon is April- May (due to replacement of non essential stuff change). Was wondering if anycubic direct has been any better.

Storytime (optional): Had holes appearing in prints and there was no resin on the glass underneath, so I replaced the LCD. My replacement didn't come with a gasket like my previous replacement did. First print turned out great. Second print frame sheared and then my brand new LCD stuck to the vat and ripped out. (I had heat tape down, but it I guess a corner came off and stuck to the FEP).

so RIP to printing for however long.

What is causing my supports to fail where the arms are supposed to be?

Level the build plate. The supports are disconnected before it get to the arm.
Also run the uv test to confirm your screen is working

Gergely Jávor
2020-03-24 22:02:52

Probably you need to a) use stronger support settings and/or b) adjust the contact depth of your support endpoints as they are breaking away due to the suction forces applied.

And this i have to say in general because it annoys me to no end: Supports breaking off when all other features as seen in the picture print fine HAVE NOTHING to do with bed leveling. People need to stop shouting out any random nonsense they have heard and repeating it to others.

Paul Oliveira
2020-03-24 22:03:45

Gergely Jávor I was thinking the same thing with that last comment ?

Gergely Jávor
2020-03-24 22:05:48

The amount of BS people regurgitate to one another in FB groups without a single thought is driving me insane. Its fine that people want to help another but its NOT fine to spew out all maner of nonesense just so that you can say you said something, At this rate i wouldn't be suprised if one day someone suggest someone to calibrate their esteps first because surely that is the problem...

Paul Oliveira
2020-03-24 22:06:51

Gergely Jávor lmao wait it's still early

Gergely Jávor
2020-03-24 22:11:13

Also while being on the subject of suggestions. Additional to what i said in my original answer you might also want to consider playing around with the orientation of your model. The reason why its often suggested to print at an angle is that you start with smaller crosssections which in turn reduce the suction forces and stress applied with each retract move. This might not have a direct affect on the point where you have issues (because the first islands at the hand might not be that big) now but having a different orientation that is not so flat towards the bed might also help. Try playing around with PrusaSlicers optimize orientation features as that may give you a good suggestion on what to try maybe.

I had prints where hands or fingers failed similarily in one orientation with the same support settings and they didn't in other ones. Its probably a mix of experimentation. Try to adjust supports as well as orientation and see if that helps.

After you thin the paint make sure your brush isn't over saturated. I will wipe the brush on the edge of my wet pallet to get off excess paint.

Daniel Faubert
2020-03-25 21:32:21

Ben Miller well you did an amazing job

Nikola Pijanac
2020-03-25 21:39:09

I had to laugh do reading glasses count as a magnifying glass :) I use a magnifying glass as well at times. Some of the detail you see maybe a dry brush technique as well. Look up on YouTube dry brushing detail, you'll get the gist of it pretty quickly . The orc is very nicely done!! Dry brushing will give you a lot of amazing detail and others will think you have the hand of the big man himself Michael Angelo lol. Awesome detail can be achieved without having to actually paint in line by line. There are those with deft hands that can of course paint the finest lines.

Nikola Pijanac
2020-03-25 21:42:43

I forgot to mention also look up washing models, that's another technique used to add detail but not necessarily painted line by line. Theres a ton of tips and trick revealed by a lot of dedicated people on youtube that are happy to share how they do it.

Ben Miller
2020-03-25 23:48:01

Dry brushing and washing are excellent ways to bring out detail! Just use them in moderation. To much drybrushing can make the model look dusty and to much wash can drown out definition. I have done both.

Good morning!

I am looking to hire an artist who would be willing to create STL files for me on commission, from time to time. (I have at least a few in mind already. See below)

I would be willing to also pay extra for exclusive rights to certain models.

The files would basically be that of action figures and/or action figure accessories. (Such as below)

If you, or someone you know might be interested, Please contact me. I would like to get started right away.
Thanks!

PS. If you know of a better place to ask this question, please let me know where.
